HOW COMPUTERS WORK
In this part of the course, we will investigate how computers work. We will be looking at both the hardware and software aspects, networks, and security.
We will start with some videos about how computers are able to accomplish the things they do.
The following videos are from the code.org video series How Computers Work.
INTRODUCING HOW COMPUTERS WORK
Microsoft founder Bill Gates introduces you to the video series.
WHAT MAKES A COMPUTER A COMPUTER
We use the term computer quite a bit, but do you know what make a categorizes something as a computer? In this video, you will be introduced to the common traits of computers.
BINARY DATA
It’s amazing how two simple numbers can have such an impact on our society. These numbers are the number one and zero. How do they have this impact? Have a look at the video to find out more.
CIRCUITS AND LOGIC
We learned in the last section how information travels into and from the computer. How does the computer deal with this information? The answer is by using circuits, and you can learn more about them below.
CPU, MEMORY, INPUT, AND OUTPUT
The CPU and memory has a very close relationship with the input and output process. Have a look at the video below to find out how.
HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE
So far we have learned how a computer processes information. How can that information be used with various pieces of hardware? The video below explains.
